Stress Fractures and Gut Piles and Marathon Majors, Oh My!

November 1, 2018

Well hello November…and Thanksgiving…and the holiday season! How’d you get here so darn fast? It’s time to sit down with Deborah and Coco and YOU and catch up over a hot beverage. I’m going with Starbucks Winter Blend. Squirrels store nuts for the winter, I store Winter Blend when it’s on sale at Costco because [Read More]

Pumpkin Spice Protein Muffins

October 29, 2018

Our Tuesdays on the Run Linkup this week is all about Halloween. What’s your favorite Halloween treat? Will you dress up? Race in costume? Inquiring minds wanna know! I will celebrate by chauffering Thing 2 to her friends’ neighborhood for a spirited evening of Trick or Treat. Then I’ll man (woman?) the door here at [Read More]

Marathon Training Takes a Village

October 28, 2018

As I type I’m at T minus 1 week. That’s code for Tokyo Marathon training officially starts in one week. ONE. WEEK. I was getting my head around kicking off training for London at the end of December. Starting Tokyo next week does not compute. First world problems. At least it’s not horribly cold out [Read More]

October Runfession Friday Linkup

October 25, 2018

2018 why are you slipping away so fast? Since October is mostly in the rear view and the holidays are coming up way too fast, it’s time to open the Runfession Friday Linkup once again to bare our souls and soles. Let’s get started, shall we? What would Runfession Friday be without a gym locker [Read More]

Standout Race Food

October 22, 2018

Warning: This week’s Tuesdays on the Run topic might make you hungry. What runner isn’t hungry? Especially after a race? Are there certain races you’ve run that had memorable race food, for one reason or another? If so we wanna hear about it. All the good, the bad and the ugly too. Personally I’m one [Read More]

Tokyo Marathon Training, Sooner Than Later

October 21, 2018

It was another whirlwind week. While I was shocked and elated to make it through the London Marathon lottery a couple of weeks ago, getting a spot in the Tokyo Marathon last week really threw me for a loop…and forced me to give serious thought to Tokyo Marathon training. Sooner than later. I’d planned to [Read More]

Friday Faves

October 18, 2018

It’s been a helluva couple of weeks here in my neck of the woods. Just when you think life can’t get any more exciting (in a great way) IT DOES! You probably know what I’m referring to but if you don’t, here it comes: Bang… and BANG! As if being lucky in the London lottery [Read More]

Training & Racing Tips from Running Elites

October 15, 2018

To kick off Chicago Marathon weekend, I was invited to a special Expert Panel Discussion sponsored by UCAN, featuring training and racing tips from a group of running elites. Meb was there, just like he was the last time I attended a UCAN event, so was Alexi Pappas, Chirine Njeim and more. The panel was [Read More]

When London Calls, You’d Better Answer

October 14, 2018

This week was kind of a blur. A big smudgy blur. I’ve been single parenting but that’s nothing new. I ran a couple of times, strength trained a couple of times, never did make it out on my bike, but did make it to my weekly CrossFit appointment with Coach Lucifer, where he proclaimed I [Read More]

What Would You Do with $1000?

October 8, 2018

Quick: A thousand dollars is falling out of the sky, right down to YOU. But there’s a catch: You NEED to spend it on RUNNING. Do we need to twist your arm? Yeah, didn’t think so. That’s our Tuesdays on the Run topic. What would you do with a thousand bucks if you had to [Read More]

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
