Training & Racing Tips from Running Elites

October 15, 2018

To kick off Chicago Marathon weekend, I was invited to a special Expert Panel Discussion sponsored by UCAN, featuring training and racing tips from a group of running elites. Meb was there, just like he was the last time I attended a UCAN event, so was Alexi Pappas, Chirine Njeim and more. The panel was [Read More]

When London Calls, You’d Better Answer

October 14, 2018

This week was kind of a blur. A big smudgy blur. I’ve been single parenting but that’s nothing new. I ran a couple of times, strength trained a couple of times, never did make it out on my bike, but did make it to my weekly CrossFit appointment with Coach Lucifer, where he proclaimed I [Read More]

What Would You Do with $1000?

October 8, 2018

Quick: A thousand dollars is falling out of the sky, right down to YOU. But there’s a catch: You NEED to spend it on RUNNING. Do we need to twist your arm? Yeah, didn’t think so. That’s our Tuesdays on the Run topic. What would you do with a thousand bucks if you had to [Read More]

Catching Up Over Coffee

October 4, 2018

It’s a new season and a new month. It’s also time to sit down and catch up over a cup of something warm. I’d invite you to my outdoor sanctuary aka my back deck, before it gets entirely too cold to sit out there. I’m linking up with Deborah and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee [Read More]

Running With Coyotes

October 1, 2018

We’re kicking off October with a free week here on the Tuesdays on the Run Linkup. Feel free to share any running-related post your heart desires. I’ve lived in an area rich with wildlife for almost 20 years now. It’s not unusual to see more than my share of deer, coyote, raccoon. fox, skunk, opossum, [Read More]

What Will You Drop This Fall?

September 30, 2018

The first week of fall found me in full-on recovery mode. While the rest of my body felt quite good after Seawheeze, my poor feet did not. Ground beef comes to mind. So I sort of dropped running this week, and opted for rest, mostly.  Here’s how the week went: Monday: Rest Tuesday: Rest Wednesday: [Read More]

September Runfessions

September 27, 2018

I’m in denial that we’re very close to ushering out September. There’s frost in the forecast. Events with the word “jingle” in them are popping up. It’s crazy but true. It’s also time to pay a visit to our favorite runfessional. The Runfession Friday Linkup is officially open! Let’s get started. I runfess even though [Read More]

Lululemon Sea Wheeze Half Marathon: Race Recap

September 25, 2018

Race day dawned dark and rainy. Not just a Pacific Northwest mist but a steady, soaking downpour. My weather app said there was only a 30% chance of rain at starting time so I held on to that and agonized over my race outfit. It’d be overcast, in the mid-50’s getting up to maybe 60, [Read More]

Lululemon Seawheeze Half Marathon: Prologue

September 24, 2018

This past weekend I jetted off to Vancouver, Canada to run the Seawheeze Half Marathon. Actually the journey started back in January when I entered the lottery. A lottery I’ve been meaning to get in on for years, but always forget…except for this year. Lo and behold, I and 9500 of my newest running friends [Read More]

Look What the Sea Breeze Blew In

September 24, 2018

I’m just back from Vancouver where I ran the Lululemon Seawheeze Half Marathon. Stay tuned for the lowdown on the weekend. For now, let’s just say there were highs and lows…epic bling…body searches…and blood soaked socks. I won’t even bore you with last week’s training. In a nutshell I took things light. Very light, since [Read More]

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
