Run in new places? Meet new people? Tell us about it. Places First full marathon run on foreign soil: The Berlin Marathon. Getting a [Read More]

Chocolate-Peppermint Protein Cups

December 10, 2017

Before I get to the field trip and to my Chocolate-Peppermint Protein Cup recipe, here’s how another week of non-training workouts went. I have to admit I’m really digging a little downtime from the training hamster wheel right now. Monday: Rest Tuesday: Run 5 Miles Wednesday: Strength Thursday: Tuning Up for the Holidays field trip [Read More]

Pressed For Time? Here’s a Fast Way to Fit In a Workout

December 8, 2017

Yesterday was one of those days. I had a billion things to do/places to go before I had to pick up the kids then head to a blog field trip later in the afternoon. I took Ozzypup out for our usual trail run/walk then planned to drop him off at home and continue on my [Read More]

Best Races of 2017

December 4, 2017

2017 is rapidly drawing to a close. I don’t know about you, but unless I pencil in a quick 5k, my racing year is finito. Our Tuesdays on the Run Linkup topic wants to know what your best race(s) of the year were and why. I couldn’t limit my “best” race to just one. There [Read More]

Junk Miles and Feasting on Trails

December 3, 2017

It wasn’t the greatest week ever in terms of running. I got all my runs in, but there was no quality in terms of speedwork and all of them felt harder than they “should” have. But that’s a-okay since officially Gasparilla training doesn’t fire up for a couple of weeks. I’m on a bit of [Read More]

Let’s Chat Over Coffee

November 30, 2017

How about we sit down and catch up over a favorite brew? If we were sitting down together, I’d offer you a cup of my all-time favorite coffee from Southern Season in Chapel Hill North Carolina. It may be the last bag I have since the in-laws are no longer living there, we probably won’t [Read More]

Cohabiting with Cheesecake: Staying On Track During The Holidays

November 27, 2017

Can you believe it’s practically December? Since November is just about done and dusted, it’s time to rate/recap the month on the Tuesdays on the Run Linkup. As I mentioned back on November 2, I’m finishing this year strong. For me that means addressing the elephant in the room that I love to ignore: Weightloss. [Read More]

Thanksgiving Gratitude, Perspective and Sadness

November 26, 2017

Workouts were definitely a (small) side dish this week as Thanksgiving prep-execution-recovery took precedence. Here’s how what little I did shook out: Monday: Yoga Tuesday: Rest Wednesday: Rest Thursday: Run 5 trail miles Friday: Rest (MIL wrangling so not really rest) Saturday: Run 6 miles (2 with Ozzypup) Sunday: CrossFit I took the first part [Read More]

Black Friday Runfessions

November 23, 2017

I hope everyone had an amazing and delicious Thanksgiving! Now it’s time to open the runfessional so we can cruise through the holiday whirlwind with a clear conscience. Let’s get started: I runfess I thought I was having a heart attack a couple of weeks ago. I awoke to stabbing pain in my upper back. [Read More]

Running Is The Gift I Give Myself

November 20, 2017

What better time than Thanksgiving week to reflect on all of our blessings? In keeping with the Thanksgiving theme, our Thursdays on the Run topic is Thankful. What are you thankful for? I’ve said for years that Running is the Gift I Give Myself. Yes it’s a hobby and a sport but over the years, [Read More]

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
