Thankful for Thanksgiving Week

November 19, 2017

I swear I spent the better part of this week recovering from the whirlwind that was RnR Vegas. I Came home to two kids with colds. One shook hers off easily. The other continues to be all kinds of miserable. Here’s how the week’s less-than-stellar workouts went: Monday: Travel home from Vegas Tuesday: Strength + [Read More]

RocknRoll Las Vegas Half Marathon

November 15, 2017

The main event of this trip (for me anyway) was the half marathon. I’d run it in 2015 and could not resist returning for an encore. In 2015 it was cold…and windy….with rainy bits….and a sandstorm. This year? On the toasty side. Of course it’s a dry heat. As a RocknBlogger I was grateful to [Read More]

RocknRoll Las Vegas 5k

November 13, 2017

This week’s Tuesdays on the Run topic is Runners Gift Lists but since I am just back from an epic destination race remix weekend, I’m going to stray. One does not get any more glitz and glam than Las Vegas and RocknRoll Las Vegas keeps well with that theme. As a RocknBlogger, I am lucky [Read More]

Meal Prep & Food Tracking Mistakes. Live and Learn

November 10, 2017

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links.  With two weeks of meal prep and food tracking under my belt, mistakes have already become evident. This does not surprise me as I am a total newbie when it comes to food prep. If there’s a Food Prep for Dummies, I should have read it. Maybe I should [Read More]

5 Keys to Staying Motivated

November 6, 2017

It won’t be long now before old man winter shows his chilly face around these parts. How do you stay motivated to get your training and workouts done when the mercury drops? That’s this week’s Tuesdays on the Run topic.  It’s 6 degrees. The wind is howling. A certain runner I know has 5 miles [Read More]

Still Dancing On My Own

November 5, 2017

Before I get started can we give it up for our girl Shalane?!? I sat watching the NYCM TV coverage and the announcers were all about Mary Keitany this and Mary that. I like Mary as much as the next runner but I didn’t even realize Shalane was running until I spotted her in the [Read More]

How Will You Finish This Year Strong?

November 2, 2017

If this year was a race, now would be the time you turn the corner, see the finish line, and start your finishing kick (you’ve got one, right?). Despite how the rest of the year might have gone, it’s always nice to finish strong. That’s my theory anyway, and finish strong is exactly what I’m [Read More]

Hot Chocolate 15k Race Report

October 30, 2017

This was the 10th anniversary running of the Hot Chocolate 5k and 15k here in Chicago. I’ve run pretty close to all the races in the Chicago area by now but, truth be told, not this one. Because it takes place so late in the year, I’m usually fresh off of a fall marathon so [Read More]

Letting Go: When Loss is Necessary for Gain

October 29, 2017

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links.  Well, well, well. The last full week of October is a wrap. Before I tell you how it all went down, here’s how my workouts shook out. Not too shabby if I do say so myself: Monday: Rest Tuesday: Run 3 miles intervals am + strength/balance/corework pm (double workout. [Read More]

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
