October 6, 2016

One of the most fabulous weekends of all for runners in Chicago is upon us! Chicago Marathon weekend! That means if I’m not actually running it or volunteering, I am holding down the fort in the “Blogger Press Box” aka our stakeout spot at mile 13. Emily and I last year. Note fluorescent Mr. Happy [Read More]

October 3, 2016

This week on Tuesdays on the Run we’re talking about that bucket list. We wanna know what races or running experiences might be lurking on yours. I mean let’s face it, there are so many enticing ones. The possibilities are virtually endless. I’ve had the privilege of many running adventures. Many states, many countries, many [Read More]

Art of the Bath

October 2, 2016

Here I am smack dab in the middle of those exhaustingly heinous peak marathon training weeks before the taper. Before I get to one of the ways I’m rewarding and taking care of myself (sort of) here’s how the week’s workouts went. Monday: Rest Tuesday: Run 5 Miles Wednesday: Strength Thursday: Hill Repeats Friday: Plyo [Read More]

Coffee and Some Cleansing Breaths

October 1, 2016

Hello October! How did you get here so darn fast? I’m linking up with Coco and Deb for an Ultimate Coffee Date. If we were having coffee I’d elaborate on something I alluded to in yesterday’s Runfessions post. I joked about my school dropoff getup, but the reason the school was crawling with security is far [Read More]

Runfessions: The Heat Made Me Do It

September 29, 2016

Was this the fastest of all the months so far, or what? Final Friday of the month means it’s Runfession time once again. The month may have been short but my list of runfessions is not so let’s get to it, shall we? It was not an easy running month if heat and humidity aren’t [Read More]

Running Around Ireland

September 23, 2016

Last month the teenager and I headed off to Ireland to run the RocknRoll Dublin Remix. Race reports for that are here and here. Now let’s talk about the vacation aspect. This was the second time I’d been Ireland, although it had been a few…ok many…years. Dublin Dublin is a great city to explore on [Read More]

Patience is a Virtue

September 19, 2016

As runners, we hear tons of advice. There’s so much good advice out there. No doubt there’s questionable advice too. Who do you believe? What resonates with you? This week our Tuesdays on the Run linkup asks you to share the best running advice you ever received. As a running coach, I dispense plenty of [Read More]

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
