Shed Light on Health with EverlyWell

November 2, 2016

This post is sponsored by EverlyWell in partnership with Fit Approach. All thoughts and opinions, as always, are my own.  As a health-conscious individual I’m good (mostly) about eating well, getting plenty of exercise and making it in to see my doctor for regular wellness checkups. I expressed my frustrations here before about the long [Read More]

You Say Winter Crosstraining, I Say Runbattical

October 31, 2016

This week’s Tuesdays on the Run topic is Winter Crosstraining. There I said it: Winter. Yeah winter’s coming. Soon. We wanna know if you run/train right through winter? Give yourself a little break? Change up your workouts? Tell us! Personally I’m all about shifting the gears. Keeping the ole bod guessing. Face it marathon training [Read More]

October 30, 2016

I’ve been a girl about town this week. Before I get to that, and before I share my Mexican Hot Chocolate Protein Bites recipe, here’s how week 2 of marathon taper went. The workouts are getting scarce: Monday: Rest Tuesday: Speedwork 5 x 1000m Wednesday: Yoga Thursday: 6 Mile Tempo Run Friday: Rest Saturday: Pumpkin [Read More]

Taperfessions: A Special Kind of Madness

October 27, 2016

Here we are, almost at the tail end of another month (how? just how??) and it’s time for another edition of the Runfession Friday Linkup. This one finds me smack dab in the middle of marathon taper. Let’s get started and let some of the crazy out, shall we? I runfess that I changed part [Read More]

How to Run Your Best Marathon

October 24, 2016

This week on the Tuesdays on the Run linkup, we’re giving you a do-over. Aren’t we sweet? IF you had a chance to revisit a particular race, and run it again, either because you’d like to train for or run it differently than the way you did the first time around, or you’d like to [Read More]

Punch That Ticket to Taper Town

October 23, 2016

Through all the hoopla about RnR St. Louis last weekend, I quietly punched my ticket to taper town. At this point, all that stands between me and the Indiana Monumental Marathon is two, count ’em, two weeks. Here’s how taper week one went: Monday: Rest Tuesday: Trail run 3 miles Wednesday: Strength, drills Thursday: Progression run 5.5 [Read More]

RocknRoll St. Louis Half Marathon & Midwest Quest

October 19, 2016

We left off the other day with the RocknRoll St. Louis 5k and some sightseeing tidbits. I was up dark and early Sunday morning for the RocknRoll St. Louis Half Marathon. Temps were already pushing 70 at 5am. Despite knowing darn well this course would challenge me with hills, I did a half-assed job of [Read More]

RocknRoll St. Louis

October 17, 2016

Our Tuesdays on the Run topic this week is a Fall Goals Checkup. Did you set some? How’s your progress toward achieving them? Off the top of my head I could not even think of what goals I may have set. I took a guess and said this was the year of new running adventures: [Read More]

Optimize Your Running Gait with Stridalyzer

October 14, 2016

Of all the things to think about when I run…upcoming races, weather, how much that first mile (or 5) sucks…I admit I don’t spend much, if any, time thinking about my gait. I know that I’m a mid-foot striker…before I tire and revert to a plodding heel strike…and that any gait analysis I’ve ever had [Read More]

This week it’s all about the taper on our Tuesdays on the Run linkup. Do you look forward to the taper? Loathe it? Do you have phantom niggles? Cravings? Fits of self-doubt or paranoia? marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
