Best Race Expo Finds

January 18, 2016

This week on Tuesdays on the Run it’s all about the stuff we find at race expos. Have you found some really cute things? Scored some deals? Run into running/blog friends? Tell us! If the expo is large enough, inevitably I’ll find a thing or 6 to buy. I usually buy an “official” race shirt [Read More]

Essential Gear for Winter Running

January 15, 2016

Truth be told, I enjoy my winter running. It’s cool, ok cold here in Northern Illinois. But so peaceful and beautiful when a layer of snow insulates me from the rest of the world. The snow sparkles when the sun hits it just the right way. Yeah, maybe it gets uncomfy when the wind is [Read More]

Weightloss Week 1: Fail to Plan

January 13, 2016

Week 1 of operation drop 10 lbs. is in the books. To hold my feet to the fire and keep me accountable, I’ll be logging my progress, or lack thereof, here every week. Despite my best intentions…mostly…the week ended up mediocre at best. Mostly because I failed to plan sufficiently. Like most, I started out [Read More]

I had a dream. A weird one.

January 11, 2016

This week’s Tuesdays on the Run topic is Dreams. You know, the ones you have at night about running or a big race. Maybe you overslept and got to the starting line late or forgot something crucial, like oh I don’t know, your shoes or race bib. This is the time to tell us about [Read More]

Loving/Not Loving: Winter Edition

January 7, 2016

Loving: Our town has cute, one-lane, covered bridges. Not Loving: When someone decides they’re not going to wait their turn to drive across and sneaks behind the car in front of them. What. You needed to save 5 seconds?? Loving: Costco’s low gas prices. Not Loving: People that jump the gas line at Costco. I mean [Read More]

Weightloss Wednesday: The Beginning

January 5, 2016

One of my 2016 goals is to drop 10 lbs. No time like the present to get cracking on that, right? Now that the glittery confetti of New Years has settled, let’s get down to business. While I did not deprive myself through December and the holidays (hello daily ice cream on Marco Island) I didn’t [Read More]

Stop the Presses!

January 4, 2016

This week’s Tuesdays on the Run topic is Goals. Running or otherwise. I talked about my goals here. Now stop the presses. It’s my blogiversary. This blog is 7 years old. That’s geriatric by social media standards. When I started this labor of love, Things 1 and 2 were 3 and 7 years old respectively. [Read More]

Except for Instagram, it’s been radio silence on social media here for a few days and ya know what? It felt pretty great! marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
