Runfessions

November 15, 2013

1. I feel like I should have my running blogger club card revoked because I don’t have a Starbucks red cup pic to share with you or splash on Instagram. I’ll go on the assumption you’ve all seen them. Now I love me some holiday cheer and gosh the sound of those holiday bevvies at Starbucks sends me into premature Christmas convulsions. And now that said bevvies are buy one get one free, I can hardly resist. But I just can’t CAN’T consume something with 30++ grams of sugar 300+++ calories and the list goes on. No offense and no judging to those of you who do. Now tell me, is there a festive drink I can get at Starbucks that is fairly tame calorie and sugar wise? I ordered a tall Thanksgiving blend black coffee the other day that was divine. What do you get at Starbucks?

2.If my blogger club card hasn’t been revoked after the first one, I’m sure it will be now. I haven’t been having recovery smoothies lately. Blame it on the cold snap but I’ve replaced them with recovery chili. And it’s pretty spectacular.

3. I’m a running shoe stock piler. There I said it. If Extreme Couponing had a running shoe show, I’d be first at the checkout. When my shoe of choice (Mizuno Wave Creation) is on super sale, I load up. I just rotated into my 4th consecutive pair of orange ones. Sigh. I adore orange, but even I’m getting a little sick of it.

4. There’s about a week left of the Grain Brain Challenge. While I am doing a ton better than I was before, there have been some bumps in the road (I’m talking about you, Halloween). Even with the transgressions I’ve been feeling GREAT! More on Grain Brain next week.

There, I feel better already! Any runfessions to share?

What do I get at starbucks? If i am feeling crazy (and have run a lot during the week) a half sweet nonfat cinnamon dolce latte (hold the whip cream unless its after a long run!) or half sweet nonfat caramel maciatto. I have also had an Americano with 1 or 2 pumps of flavouring (say caramel brulee or pumpkin spice). only a tall or grande. Cuts own on calories. Tastes good.

1st off I am so annoyed with all the red cup pics. We here in Seattle were quite annoyed when they sold the Sonics (even though it was years ago) and my family actually boycotted them;). But we get giftcards from people sometimes so I will buy a soy mocha every once in a while. I need those orange Mizunos! Shoes to match all my Colton’s Army gear:)

My fave snack of the moment are homemade banana/oat energy bars from a Runner’s World recipe.

You’re smart to stock up on your fave shoe – I really should do that before Saucony messes with the design of my beloved Kinvaras ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve been known to hoard shoes too (hope that makes you feel better). But I usually will buy different colours because I like a change AND it also helps me keep the shoes sorted in my head – which I’ve worn, which I wore last, which ones I wore when I ran a good race (so they can become my lucky shoes.)

I don’t frequent starbucks. i never liked the fru-fru drinks. i prefer my own coffee my way brewed at home. If I do go, I’m likely to get tea. Boring, huh

I’m a shoe hoarder but I have several brands and all different colors – I like my running shoes to coordinate with my outfit!

I am laughing about your post because I did go to Starbuck’s for a coffee date with my husband yesterday afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed a grande Peppermint Mocha WITH all the whipped cream… but in a ceramic cup, not a red one!

I was fully aware that it was going to be loaded with calories and fat, but made the decision to have it before hand… it is my ONLY indulgence this week so I am okay with it.

When I looked it up, it was 410 calories and I think 16 g of fat, but it was about 12 g of protein and 63 g of carbs!!! A meal in itself.

I was just about to post a pic of it on FB!

This week I started following a new nutrition plan where I am eating 20% fat, 45 % carbs and 35 % protein so you can imagine I as a bit over my fat for the day… but I am making up for it today and the week should even out!

Lately I have been eating a date with a little almond butter for a snack. It’s really good. Sometimes I will have it with coconut butter instead of the almond butter. I have the same Mizunos and have also bought them twice now. I am in need of new running sneakers and I am thinking about trying the new Prophecys. I order an iced doppio(double espresso over ice)at Starbucks or just a tall coffee. Boring but a lot less calories and sugar.

I am a total compulsive running shoe buyer and hoarder. I wear Asics Gel Kayano and they keep coming out with awesome new colors (and models) faster I can wear them (but not faster than I can buy them). I have three pairs of still unworn 19s and now the 20s are out! I have only bought one so far (hoping for super deals) and I am saving them for 2014 races. Also, I have trouble getting rid of older pairs. I need help. I am also an SBUX addict (surprised?) and I get Americanos with cream (not too festive) or unsweetened iced tea (really unfestive in cold weather). For a treat when I have a free drink credit I get a skinny peppermint mocha. Fake sugar but oh well. The contest thing didn’t show up on my iPad but I’ll share a favorite snack anyway…I like a pocket thin (or half) with a little maple or coconut almond butter spread inside, cut into wedges. I’m also on a dill pickle spear kick these days. And little satsuma/mandarin oranges! Super festive! ๐Ÿ™‚

I am a shoe hoarder and I keep an eye out for good deals.
