Training Recap

January 17, 2010

Boston Training Week 3 is complete! 40 miles
Here’s how the week went:

Monday: SRD

Tuesday: Ladder workout: 1200m, 1000m, 800m, 600m, 400m; yoga class at night. The ladder got ridiculously hard by the time I got into the 800. Thankfully it was almost over by then!

Wednesday: FIRST+ 10 miler with BBTN weights afterward

Thursday: 7 mile tempo run on the mill.

Friday: SRD due to annual physical shenanigans

Saturday: Yoga and weights. Very tired this morning, slept like a log the past two nights.

Sunday: 17 miles. I am thrilled at how well this went. Probably thanks to not running the 2 days preceeding and the pizza feeding frenzy the night before. I got out to bewitchingly beautiful frozen fog and slipped into ‘the zone’ by mile 5. It was colder than expected (thaw, my eye) and my bootay was frozen, although an extra pants layer would have been too much. I considered throwing capris over my CW-X tights but the prospect of looking like a rodeo clown on the loose had limited zero appeal, fashion victim that I am. 21 degrees when I got home, so yeah I was under dressed.

Notes: I think my body is still adjusting to running 3 days in a row as I am very tired by Thursday. Thursday’s tempo felt harder than it should have, although I’m getting better at staying on the treadmill when I have to. My IT is the slightest bit achy, ergo the CW-X tights. I’m keeping a close eye on that.

WOW, what an impressive week! I am glad to hear carbs the night before work – I am so hesitant to do that. I mean, after being on a moderate carb diet, I am scared to load up on the oh-so-yummy pasta and bread ๐Ÿ™‚

Great week. I'm not surprised you were tired by Thursday. You did 3 hard workouts in a row. Have you considered alternating hard and easy runs? That's the philosophy my coach uses with me and it keeps me feeling great.

I love reading your weekly training recaps because they really inspire me ๐Ÿ™‚

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
