Thursday This and That

March 25, 2010

RIP Fishy
You may remember last November we got a fish. It was Thing 1’s first. Her pride and joy. I could tell Fishy was slowing down these past few days. Thing 1 was beyond devastated when she realized  Fishy was perched among the fake sea grass kind of  “permanently” so to speak. Thing 2 couldn’t have cared less. So what did I do to comfort her? Bad mommy that I am, I baked a giant pan of brownies. Somehow a big ole bowl of fruit salad didn’t seem right. Today what’s left of them sits taunting me. BTW I did the honorable thing and buried Fishy in the garden this morning.

Gear Malfunction
Can’t believe I’m saying this but my new Mizuno’s are giving me grief! It kind of feels like I tied them too tightly for my tempo run last Sunday and they started bugging my foot near the top inside eyelet. Today when I started running, same thing. No bruise on my foot or tenderness. But when I run in them OUCH!
I trotted out the understudy Lunar Glides today and they were great. Perhaps they are my marathon man shoe?

The Phenomenon Continues
The Chicago Marathon reached capacity yesterday in record time. It’s becoming the rule rather than the exception at races around the country theses days. There are still charity spots available. If you are interested in joining me on the Lupus Foundation Team email me. We’d love to have you join us!

Final Days to Win a Running Skirt!
If you haven’t entered, get on it here! Deadline is Friday at midnight!

bummer about the fish. good for you burying the fish. it meant the world to me when my parents would bury dead pets in the backyard. although to type that out sounds a bit creepy hah!

    Hi Marcia,
I might be interested in one of those charity spots for the Chicago marathon:) I will e-mail you tomorrow during my lunch break. I was so disappointed when I heard that I missed the dead line.

    Sorry about your fish:(

Awwe, poor fishie. My little one's first fish committed suicide, it kept going to the top to suck air and 1 day later it was dead.

I've felt the same thing before with a pair of my shoes, I wonder what causes it?

  19. Melissa says

Poor fishie!! Sorry your shoes are giving you problems!

  20. Cynthia O'H says

Poor Thing #1. I'm impressed that you buried it; we just flush ours – except for the one that was so big that I thought it would plug the toilet. But, that's an entire story.

Is RIP fishy "resting" on a "No Photos" sign? That's pretty funny! But, I'm sorry Thing 1 was so upset! I hope the other man, I mean, the other shoes work out for you. Have a good weekend!

  24. Heather says

    March 26, 2010 at 2:07 pm

Brownies are definitely more of a comfort food than fruit salad.

    Have a great weekend!

If it makes you feel any better, my daughter had FOUR fish die this week. Big drama around here, and of course, my husband was working late all week so I got to handle both the physical and emotional wreckage. Good times!

    Hi Marcia,
For some reason I am having difficulty e-mailing to gmail. I have had issues before with a few other bloggers. Do you have another e-mail that I could use? If not, I will just give you mine. I talked to my husband and he said he didn't care if I ran it or not:) How long do I have before we hit dead line time for registration?

Let me know when you have a moment:) Have a great weekend Marcia!

poor Thing 1! Will she be getting a new fish? I had Mizuno's and actually return them because of the same problem you are describing. I was told my pair was defective but it sounds like the defect might have spread ๐Ÿ˜‰

bahaha, poor thing 1, but hilarious that you took a picture of it

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did.
