After The Boston Marathon: Resting Recap!

April 25, 2010

Week 1 Apres Boston Marathon is complete: 34.6 miles

Here’s how the week shook out:
Monday: Ran the Boston Marathonย well walked too but we won’t talk about that, 26.2 miles.

Tuesday: SRD. Just the front of my thighs are tender, really not bad at all.

Wednesday: Yoga, corework. Soreness getting better not worse. Hooray!

Thursday: Yoga. Feeling great! Trying to keep the momentum going and maintain better (meaning less food) eating habits

Friday: Yoga, corework. Sleeping like a freaking log!

Saturday: Yep more yoga. Slept 9:30p to 7:30a. Unprecedented. Ahhh!

Sunday: 8 miles, 8:48 pace among gentle, fragrant breezes and birdsong. There was a wall of ominous black clouds threatening from the West but I finished before they became an issue. Ice skating with the kiddos.

Notes:ย Big sigh of relief having Boston Marathon pressure behind me. Wow what a fun weekend! Recovery has gone very nicely I must say. I think the body definitely acclimates and learns to rebound faster and faster. Besides relaxing a ton, I spent the week shopping for new races but haven’t committed to any…yet. Time to regroup, retool, refresh and come out swinging once again!

I’ll leave you with a few final pics from Beantown:
The Agony
The Ecstasy
Relief at last. The banana and bling make the outfit don’t you think?
Congrats to our Big Sur and London Marathoners!

I haven't run yet…was going to yesterday but had a little emergency with one of the kiddos, but even if I COULD run yesterday, no way I was cranking out 8 at that speedy pace with my achy bod. Good job, girlfriend…you're on a roll for Chicago :). Gonna do some running today, so maybe I can catch up with ya by mid-week. Hahaha. HUGS!

Wow you are quickly back at it! Glad to hear you didn't suffer too much soreness. A sign of good conditioning, I think.

Enjoy the yoga. I love it! I think it is the perfect compliment to running. Long lean fast muscles!

Oh, I love your pictures. Great shots.

Great recovery. Obviously, your training went right – even if you weren't thrilled about how you did in Boston. I'm impressed; you were there!

    So proud of you!!

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
