Happy Memorial Day!

May 31, 2010

Whether you’re grillin’, chillin’ or both, I hope everyone will get out and have fun today as we salute our troops and remember their sacrifice.
Just  a few things from here as I make my way through the long weekend:

Something Funny
Thing 2, age 4, overheard telling my sister:
Thing 2: “My teacher had a baby in her belly and it hatched”
Sis: “Wow, what did she have?”
Thing 2: “A baby”
Sis: “Was it a girl or a boy?”
Thing 2: “She laid a girl”

Preschool graduation was adorable and of course sentimental. I managed to control my idiotic blubbering keep my emotional “spillover” to one Kleenex….ok, you win it was  2.

Something Beautiful
I think sometimes it’s destiny when you admire something from afar and somehow, call it kismet, it becomes yours. That was my fate the other day when I won these gorgeous notecards made by Trish at Begin Again and Again and Again. Uber talented, yes? I really heart them. Some things are just meant to be. Thank you Trish!

Out of My Comfort Zone
Look who I brushed the dust off of yesterday? Yes it’s Blanche my trusty roadbike! I don’t know why I don’t ride her more…well yes I do…it’s because I’m afraid of riding in traffic, taking a spill due to pedal mismanagement… the usual rocket science reasons. I finally got out and reacquainted myself with her and you know what? It was actually fun and I managed to stay upright! Woot!
Plus I had this cutie waiting to hammer with me when I got back. Yes, those are pjs. Little Mermaid ones. Are there any other kind?
Congrats to this weekend’s racers!
I hope you all held up ok in the heat!

Happy Memorial Day! Your biking partner is too cute! I did a nice Memorial Day bike ride this morning — went out nice and early to beat the traffic and heat. It was fun, but I'm still slightly afraid of riding on roads ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy long weekend! Our training group is always asking if I am going to start riding. I will when they come up with a bubble wrap outfit for me to wear as I fall at the drop of a hat.

Good for you getting back on the bike! Mine has been in the garage for about 8 years now- I think about getting it out- but just don't. Maybe I'll be more inspired to do so now.
What a cutie pie graduating from preschool! What a "big girl" moment!

I love the patriotic look on your blog for the day, you are such a good woman!! Yay for Blanche, you look totally studette next to her! I'm spending my day attempting to make a dent in picking up my living room where college girl dumped the contents of her dorm. Congratulations to your wee-one; from preschool graduation to college, it happens overnight ….

Congrats on preschool graduation!!! Good for you to keep the blubbering to a minimum. Our last preschool graduation is in a couple weeks and I don't think I'll be able to do as well as you did.

I went biking today too! I'd do it more if I wasn't scared of the cars, they come way too close!

I giggled out loud at your your children's conversation!

Aw…my son's preschool graduation is Friday. I'm sure I'll get teary eyed too!

Hooray for getting back on your bike! The more you ride it, the better it will feel, and soon you won't have any more fear!

I also have to brush off my bike. It's been hanging in the garage, waiting and waiting for me. It's hard to find someone to ride with who can work with my schedule (well, the boys' schedule). My day will soon come:)
You need matching Little Mermaid pj's for your next pic!

Hey, that's an awesome bike! Shame on you for keeping it locked up ๐Ÿ˜‰ I too am afraid of falling, but I do like the feeling of flying on a bike. It's a nice break from the feeling of plodding, which I'm just finally getting away from and starting to run fast again. Congrats to the graduate!

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
