Blue Ridge Marathon Giveaway

November 5, 2012

With the 2012 racing season winding down, if you’re like me, you might be shopping around for 2013   races.  How about putting some Blue Ridge Marathon action on your schedule?

The full marathon course boasts 3,620 feet of elevation gain and 7,234 feet of elevation change.  My quads are burning just typing this. If you’re not up for the whole enchilada, there’s a half marathon option as well. It’s all good though because you’ll be treated to breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountain scenery as you put your strength and endurance to the test.

The Blue Ridge Marathon takes place on April 20, 2013 in Roanoke, VA.

This all sounds awesome right? I knew you’d love it.

WIN IT

One lucky winner will be chosen randomly to join ME–because you know I love badassery–and hills–I love hills, especially with no oxygen–oxygen is overrated–at the Blue Ridge Marathon or Half Marathon.

To Enter

Mandatory: Tell me in a comment you want in and tell me about the most badass thing you’ve ever done.

+1: Tweet about it! “I want to win a Blue Ridge Marathon entry! @brm26pt2 @teamarcia #runBlueRidge” Tell me in a comment you did.

+1 Each: Share this giveaway on your blog, Facebook, email, smoke signals, etc. Tell me in a comment what you did.

Giveaway ends at midnight on 11/10. Good Luck!

Note: I was given a free entry to this race and, hamstrings willing, I plan to enjoy it.

That’s pretty awesome. I’d love to run a marathon with you, but I don’t think I could keep up!

The most badass thing I’ve done? I’m torn on what to say! Lame as it is – I’m going with my first marathon this past October!

Most badass thing this year…this racing year was all about badass – not a single flat, easy race in the bunch!

I would love to challenge myself with this marathon.

My most badass thing that i did this year…I loved the mud dog zombie run that i just ran! I also just ran my first marathon and signed up for my 2nd two weeks later. Let’s see if I survive!

Not entering because I have a race that same weekend already, but I am very jealous of whoever does win!

  9. Char says

    November 6, 2012 at 1:56 am

I’m not entering but I remember quite a few bloggers giving away entries into this race last year. It must be really tough if they have to give entries away – just saying.

The most bad@$$ thing I’ve done is conquer obesity by losing 85lbs and becoming a runner! December will be 1 year of keeping the weight off and I just finished my second half marathon!!

Even though my finish time was terrible, I still count training (by myself) for and finishing (in gajillion degree heat) my first marathon, Chicago 2010, as the most badass thing I’ve ever done.

So I’m tossing my name in the hat. Who doesn’t want to run up a mountain for their birthday?

  17. Jolene Cannady says

    November 6, 2012 at 8:27 am

Well, Marcia I never got to meet you at MCM and I would love to meet you. This would be a great opportunity and it is not far down the road from where I live. I am willing to be badass and run this with you. As for the most hardcore thing I have ever done, well I am an ice climber. I have not done it since I left Canada, but in college I would often go to Kakabeka Falls in Thunder Bay and climb up the big waterfall when it iced over in the winter. Tough to do, but FUN!!

Count me in! I LOVE HILLS AND LACK OF OXYGEN! My friends can attest to it – I’m never allowed to pick the routes we run. The most badass thing I’ve ever done is backpack the 500 mile Colorado Trail with my dog last year. Talk about hills and lack of oxygen! Over 90,000 ft of elevation gain with much of the trail above 10,000 ft and climbed 2 14,000 ft peaks!

I’ve done a lot of badass races, including the Spartan Beast, Tough Mudder, and New River Marathon (down the road from the Blue Ridge Marathon), but the most badass thing I’ve ever done is have the courage for an all-natural, medicine-free childbirth after having a previous cesarean. 🙂 Thanks for hosting this awesome giveaway!

    Aha! Thanks!

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
