October Rehash

November 7, 2012

Miles

  • Running: 39 (yes a measly 13 miles run pre-marathon)
  • Pool Running: 1.5 hours
  • Bike: 82

Races:

  • Zooma Great Lakes 5k
  • Marine Corps Marathon

Shame Inducing Guilty Pleasure: Cupcakes: The fuel of champions.

Shameless Pleasure: These Nairn’s Oat Cookies showed up on my doorstep, all the way from Scotland I think. Love me some Scotland and I loved these. The ginger stem ones were a tad strong for my taste buds but the Caveman adored them. They’re crispy and tasty, wheat-free, vegan, contain no trans fats or fake stuff. The best part? Just 4g sugar in 2 cookies. Thanks to Nairn’s for turning me on to these.

Weirdest Halloween Candy the kids dragged home: Valentine’s hearts filled with chocolate. Wait it gets better. Expired in 2011.

Triumphs

  • Overcame injury and finished Marine Corps Marathon on minimal training
  • Snagged AG 3 at Zooma Great Lakes
  • Completed Concrete and Coffee’s 20/day pushup challenge

Goals for November

  • Reacquaint myself with the gym
  • Now that the yoga den is closed for the season, 2 weekly yoga classes, even if I have to go next to split shorts guy or the lady who windmills her legs while in headstand.
  • Unplugged running: Garmina Garmone is hibernating until further notice.
  • Dietary changes: More on this to come.
  • Work toward 1000 miles run for the year (65 to go). Because I can’t help myself.

In case you missed it:

  • Puma Giveaway ends tomorrow.
  • Blue Ridge Marathon Giveaway ends Friday.

How did October shake out for you? Any weirdo Halloween candy?

    Those cookies sound amazing!

Yeah, you’ve gotta get to 1,000. So close! How is the hip/calf feeling these days?

My October was pretty good, but I think Nov. is shaping up even better.

Seriously Valentine’s candy?!? Some people have no shame 😉

October was good to me – fingers crossed for November!

Who was the cheapo neighbor giving out super old Valentine’s candy?? That’s hilarious and gross at the same time.

Expired Valentine candy, really?? Why did they even bother?? My mileage for October was way lower then yours so not so bad! You ran a marathon on top of that so kudos to you! Those cupcakes looks amazing and I am never giving those up for anything! Hoping that November is a better month for you and me both 🙂

Amazing that you are so close to 1000 miles! That chocolate is still good, right?

Expired candy?! Yikes. I’d love one of those oat ginger cookies to snack on right now! So glad you were able to run the marathon- you were determined, and you made it happen. I’m inspired!

expired valentine candy? wow, that really takes the cake. Our weirdest halloween treat was a banana given to her off a bunch by a man in a gorilla costume. I thought it was brilliant!

Eeew, good thing you checked their candy! Way to go on the push-ups (30-40 a day, in your case). I love how I feel now that I’ve been doing them regularly. Hope yoga classes are still somewhat enjoyable. I always get a chuckle when I see the people who try to launch right into the most challenging poses as their “warm up” while looking in the mirror to see who’s looking at them.

That’s hilarious about that candy! My kids brought home some really lame stickers, but everything else was kosher (if not exactly what I like to have around the house!).

Looks like you had a pretty good month, even if you couldn’t run as much as you want. And what kid doesn’t love stale Valentine’s Day candy (say ‘what?). Love your goals!

I’m so glad that no one came trick or treating to my house or I would have been the one giving out weird candy. Is cooking chocolate acceptable? Or week-old brownies? How about cupcake decorations?
I think I would have had to take the egging gracefully.

That’s too funny about the valentine candy. But hey, candy is candy and I’m certain it’s edible! 🙂

I have about 1500 miles for the year so far, not that that means a damn thing considering how miserable I ran all year!

I think you can get 1,000 miles since you don’t have much more to go for the entire year. Just take care of yourself!

I just got the same package from Nairn’s in the mail today and I’m anxious to try the cookies. You’re so close to 1000 miles-I’m sure you won’t have trouble getting there by the end of the year!
