My Big Fat European Vacation

July 27, 2015

We’re back from our epic trip, if you hadn’t guessed. Wonderful does not do it justice. Actually no words do. It was beyond amazing to spend 3 sun-drenched weeks trekking through Europe with 3 of my favorite people. I’ve been flooded with questions about the trip so I’ll chip away at them bit by bit in hopes I don’t overwhelm you. The Caveman and I used to live in Europe, but this was the first time we returned with the kids in tow.

Here’s how it all went down:

tower bridge

We flew to London where we spent a couple of days touring.

eiffel tower

Then we boarded the Eurostar (aka Chunnel) to Paris for another wonderful couple of days.

Europe Segrada

We flew to Barcelona for a couple of days.

Europe emerald princess

Then we boarded the Emerald Princess for a 7-day Mediterranean cruise.

Lourmarin, France

We visited Aix-En-Provence and Lourmarin, France.

Europe, Pisa

Pisa and Florence, Italy.

Europe, Spanish Steps

Rome, Italy. With special friends I’ll tell you about later.

europe, kotor

Kotor, Montenegro. I’d never been here before. This place is magical!

europe greece

We disembarked the ship in Athens, Greece and spent a few days there before heading to some Greek Islands.ย I’ll be back soon with highlights and travel do’s and don’ts for each city, and more pics of course.

Runfessions

In the meantime remember the Runfession Friday Linkup is this week. Can it really be the last week of July already? Of course I’ve got plenty of juicy tidbits to share as usual and I know you do too!

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go? #travel #vacation

Looks like a great week! I had a new patient last week ( a newborn) and the parents are from Montenegro. I had never heard of that country before, and I used to collect stamps as a kid. But of course, Europe has changed quite a bit since then.

We need to get together for lunch so I can hear more!

What a fabulous trip and so cool that you could do it with your family. I haven’t been to Europe for years. My best trip there was on my honeymoon. We went to Paris, Nice, then spent a few days driving through Italy, ending up in Florence. Looking at your pictures makes me want to go back!

I loved your photos and had so much following along on your adventure. You really planned the perfect itinerary– you saw a little of everything. What a great experience for your family! I did quite a bit of travel before I had children. My favorite place was probably Vietnam in 2002. It was still not so touristy and I loved the mix of culture and History. I loved Britain as well.
