A Marco Island Christmas

December 28, 2015

Marco Island Christmas

I’d tell you how my workout week went like I usually do, but I’m just back from our Florida vacay and not a whole lot of workout tracking was done. The workouts happened, they were just free-form.

marco island beach blue1

I ran at least 3x, sometimes on the beach, sometimes not. Sometimes fast, mostly not.

marco island beach run1

I wore my new Garmin a whopping one time. The rest of the days I forgot it and that’s ok. I did figure out how to read the workout stats on it, so yay! I swam. A lot. Whatever it was, it was enough. I enjoyed and felt great. That’s what it’s all about, right? We dropped off Thing 1 in Miami for her trip to Cuba then headed to Marco Island for a low-key, relaxing holiday.

marco island sand castle

There was plenty of castle building…

marco island sunset

…and water play…

marco island starfish

and critter discovery…although the critters were returned to the sea.

marco island tuna stack

Lots of crazy good food, like this tuna stack at Avenue5 in Naples.

marco island champagne

This flyweight may have had some Christmas champagne.

marco island theater

Oh and let’s not forget Star Wars. In the most funkadelic theater ever. It seated a whole 80 people. Love.

It was the perfect way to kick back and be grateful for an excellent year that flew away all too fast.

How did you spend your holiday? What’s your perfect vacay?ย

Glad you had a merry christmas! I’m always impressed by people who are traveling for Xmas – not doing the traditional thing. Does it seem like Christmas? Although I would have liked to have been on the beach!

Wow it looks like you had a wonderful trip! Love the sand snowman! And the tuna stack looks DIVINE. I love that dish- whether it is stacked, or however it is presented. Tuna is the best. We had a wonderful holiday. Christmas Eve and Day were very busy with family stuff, but now this is the third day in a row Paul and I have been “free lancing” (that’s what we call it when we just do whatever all day long.) I am so thankful to have this week off work!

What a fun vacation! We did low key holiday things. Having no kids does that I think. I really want to make it back to the west coast for the holidays – that’s where all my family is. Though I have to admit, spending the holidays with Tom’s family is a lot less dramatic ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m jealous – I came north this year and the weather was beautiful down in DC. I bet it was lovely to be in Florida instead of Chicago!

I had flashbacks from our summer vacation to Marco Island/Miami reading this post! Glad your trip was amazing!!! We had a quiet family Christmas at home, just us this year and it did wonders for my heavy heart.

Looks like an awesome time I would have loved to be on the beach this holiday season. Instead I was in my house in snowy Colorado.

Marco is so great for running! Hopefully it was somewhat ‘cooler’ for you than it was for me back in May – I about died in the heat haha. A great getaway! Hope your daughter had fun in Cuba (still so, so jealous!) and safe travels back home.

Such a wonderful holiday! I can’t believe how many of us went to see Star Wars, wasn’t it FANTASTIC!! Even my 5 year old loved it and she has never watched any of them. Merry Christmas and all the best n 2016!

Yup I’m with Sue, I want to know more about the Cuba trip. Were you not nervous as heck? I loved seeing your pictures of your trip, the beach and sand makes for a wonderful backdrop of active pictures! You’re so creative in getting them. Doesn’t that sand feel so freaking good between your toes too!?! I’m glad you got to relax. My family gave me fits about leaving for Christmas, course that is exactly the reason we left! To get away, peace and quiet, I missed my daughter so much but she was fine and she is the one who encouraged me to go. She is 19 and very independent, my family still thinks she’s 10….

You do holidays in style. Love the low-key workouts. Love that you forgot to use your Garmin even though it’s new. Love the sun and the sand and the food and the critters. I’m so glad you got to have such a lovely break.

I love the sand snowman! How in the world do you run in the sand in bare feet? Yikes. It sounds like a lovely beach trip. I’m headed to the beach this week — looks like rain! I’m one of those who doesn’t relax on vacation. I like to go go go (and eat). I think everyone saw Star Wars over the holidays! Thanks for linking Marcia and Happy New Year!
