Challenges Come in Threes

February 21, 2016

They say bad things come in threes. Before we get to the challenges of the week, here’s how the workouts went:
Monday: President’s Day BeFit Cardio Extreme workout 12:26
Tuesday: 6 miles w/800m repeats + BeFit Cardio Crush 13:44
Wednesday: Yoga + BeFit Dynamic Strength Training 11:58
Thursday: 5.5 miles + BeFit Toned Arms & Abs 13:05
Friday: Rest (just as well since the winds here were ridonk)
Saturday: Run 5 miles + BeFit Metabolic Booster 11:29
Sunday: Killer Strength/Stability Training w/Caveman

It was a Jekyll and Hyde kind of week weather-wise:
snowy run bridge
I was running among snow and ice one day…
spring run

…and in balmy spring-like sunshine the next.

The week started with a sick, barfing kiddo. As hard as I tried to avoid the germs, after Thursday’s run I just did not feel great. While I managed to avoid the full-blown bug, a cloud of lethargy, fatigue, and loss of appetite descended and I rested Friday. Despite the gorgeous, spring-like weather, my weekend long run wasn’t very long at all. Nothing good comes from pushing when you’re not feeling great. I didn’t hit the pool a single time all week. Whoops.

This was the first full week of high school track. 2 track workouts a day = no time for figure skating. The carpools worked out well, even if it was a full on blizzard on one of my pickup days. While Thing 1 busts her tail at track, I’ve been really focusing in on meal planning and prep so she gets the nutrients she needs to fuel her demanding schedule.

Challenges come in threes

Besides the underlying bug, our very tired furnace has been taking a reeeealllly long time to hit the desired temp. If that wasn’t enough, water seemed to be seeping up through the kitchen floor tiles right in front of the sink. Turns out a leaky garbage disposal is to blame. Ugh. I’m hoping repairs don’t come in 3’s because these two are more than enough.

How was your week? Did you race? Is your weather spring-like?

I was so excited today – I stood outside in a tee shirt and was perfectly fine! Bring on the spring weather! 🙂

Hope the challenges give you a break this week!

It does always seem like everything happens at once! And funny thing about heat, you need it. I’m happy to hear you didn’t get the full blown bug — cause that’s just nasty. How long will thing 1 have track workouts twice a day? Is that normal? I wouldn’t know. My teens would be eating a hole in the floor with that much exercise. I hope you can get back to the pool this week. I know you must have missed it? Thanks for linking up Marcia.

Sorry to hear about the bad things – they do always seem to come in threes. Hope this is a good week for you and that the repairs aren’t too bad!

We had some crazy weather this week too! Its nice that we get these warm days mixed in to all the cold, but lately it just feels like a tease and I am ready for spring to just fully be here already!

Yep, bad things come in 3. I’m hoping that you’re all done now. Onward and upward, right?

Looks like we might have some snow for our yoga pose? Hmmmm….

We had an unexpected plumbing issue and a sick dog last week so I hear ya! And unfortunately they didn’t put the shower faucet on correctly…the hot and cold water directions aren’t calibrated so the water doesn’t get hot. I’m so sick of that dang shower faucet issues! Hope you have a great week, Marcia!

The dreaded three’s…yep. Been there, done that. You are so spot-on with your comment about nothing is gained trying to push yourself when you’re not feeling 100% (I’m paraphrasing)…..I have found that I’m much more likely to injure myself if I’m not feeling healthy because my form will be off (and so will my already compromised balance).

WE have ha crazy weather here in upstate NY too. 0 degrees last weekend and 60 degrees this weekend.

Seems weird home repairs and crazy weather is going around!!! I have recently duct taped our furnace door shut, and had to take apart the vacuum this weekend because it wasn’t working, and when you have a golden retriever not having a working vacuum is NOT an option, LOL! Hope everyone is feeling better!! <3

I got a head cold right at the beginning of my training cycle, so I was happy that I’d been doing more than the scheduled distance while keeping up my groundwork. I skipped a couple workouts so I could focus on resting and getting better.

Our weather has been crazy here too (in Toronto, Canada). Last weekend we were in a polar vortex and yesterday I ran in long sleeves and a light pair of tights. CRAZY. It looks like winter is coming back later on this week too. Boo! Hopefully that’s it for the bad things for you!

Sorry to hear about your challenges last week. I am still getting over my acute bronchitis and now I have my 5 year old starting to come down with something. Not good. On the bright side, the weather here in CA is nice! I’m not missing the East coast at all weather-wise. I hope this week is better for you!

I don’t think you need to worry about not getting to the pool. Looks like you completed a bunch of other great workouts!

Booooo, the sickness thing has been a challenge at my house. My hubby still hacks, and my son is full blown sick again…they have the coughing chest congestion super bug.
Poor girl, throwing up bug is the worst.
I hate home issues like that, I sure hope it doesn’t come in 3’s for ya!

Household repairs…. UGH! I have been doing a lot of doing upgrades to my condo and the patio closet doors got ripped off in the wind. Not what I wanted after investing a bunch of money. Hopefully you don’t have anything else after those 2 things.

Two workouts a day? That seems a lot for high school students. It’s not like they’re training for the Olympics. Thank goodness there are other mothers to share the driving with.

It does often seem like home repairs come in threes. 🙁

Seems like a lot of people had a bad week last week — this time of year is so tough, it feels like it should be spring already (sometimes it even teases us with spring-like weather), but spring is still far, far away.

    Although I do hear a lot more chirping birds . . .
