A Breath of Fresh Air

January 22, 2017

I alluded to my tough week last Friday. Just when you think everything is going well, there’s a seismic shift and life goes full tilt. As challenging as this gloomy week was, it ended on a high note. Here’s how the workouts went down:
Monday: Rest
Tuesday: Run 4 miles
Wednesday: 1 hour spin + swim
Thursday: Trail Run
Friday: Strength + Plyo intervals
Saturday: 5 miles with Wendy and Kim
Sunday: Crossfit

It was a week of highs and lows. My weekday runs sucked, but strength, swim and spin left me feeling strong.

The universe has a way of correcting itself and that’s what happened over the weekend. Kim was visiting our fair city so of course Wendy and I arranged to head downtown to meet up with her.

It had been gloomy all week and was still foggy when we got downtown Saturday morning, but as soon as we started running, the sun made a cameo appearance, and the temps were downright springlike. Coincidence? I think not. Running friends are the best.

When you have The Bean to yourselves, you must jump. And plank.ย Running shenanigans are good for the soul.

Speaking of fresh air, a huge gust of it blew in when I opened this month’s #MustHaveBox sent to me by PopSugar. All the goodies inside are meant to calm, renew and refresh. Yes please! The microfiber hair wrap significantly cuts my blow-dry time. Peppermint tea from Dean & Deluca is delicious and luxurious at the same time and the Happy Notes make me smile. To partake of all the goodness, order your own Must Haveย box here and save $5 with SHOP5.

What an amazing fun day we had! <3 I'm looking forward to more adventures!

Weren’t we just chatting (in between running, planking, and jumping) about how hard it is to keep up with all the blogging LOL…and Runfessions (?). Ok, got it! Thanks for the heads-up ๐Ÿ˜‰ It was SO fun hanging out with you and Wendy along the lake front (and elsewhere) yesterday ๐Ÿ˜‰ I can’t wait for our reunion ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have had enough of the rain and fog. Im just glad it hasn’t been that cold otherwise I am sure we would have had a mess or ice and/or snow! Glad you got to run with Wendy and Kim- looks like fun!

I hear you on how gloomy it’s been. Thank God i finally saw some sun at the end of the week (although things didn’t really end well).

You guys look like you had so much fun!

Time with girlfriends has a way lifting your mood, no matter what else you have to deal with. I love that photo with the skyline and partial fog — and the smiles!

OK — I was totally jealous of your run with Kim and Wendy. What fun! Shenanigans are the best. I’m so over the grayness of winter, but not that we’ve had cold temps — we haven’t. I hope you have a better week. Thanks for linking, Marcia!

I just mentioned in Kim’s post. I love that pic of you guys jumping in front of the bean. How did you not get anyone else in the background? I have always wanted to try one of those Pop Sugar boxes. Looks like you get a lot of great goodies.

Amazing jumping pic! Looks like some really good stuff in that Must Have box. I saw a life hack once about using a t-shirt instead of a towel to dry your hair. It’s helps to reduce dry time, too. ๐Ÿ™‚

How fun y’all got to meet up with Kim! Running friends are the best! The weather is already spring like here in the south so I’ve been pretty bummed because once spring comes, it will be hot until October or even November. I had a great run today and the sun is out! Hope you have a great week!

How fun y’all got to meet up! I hope to visit Chicago one day. The weather is already like spring down here in the south which bums me out. Once it gets hot, it stays hot and humid for months! Hope you have a great week!

I am so jealous of your visit with the ladies! How fun!

It was an overwhelming week. The guys are dealing with some pretty serious allergies and sinus issues, and it’s meant a lot of poor sleep for everyone. I’m ready for the weather to just normalize and we can all get back to regular life.
