A Rundown Rundown

December 10, 2023

Yes you read that right. Friends, I’ve been sick and rundown. Work is A LOT lately. Too much actually, but I’m doing what I can. This too shall pass….in about a month. While my work week was heavy, workouts this week were on the light side. I’ve got lingering sludge hanging on my lungs and I tried to give myself a chance to recover. Here’s the rundown rundown:

Sunday: Walk 4 miles, Yoga, sauna
Monday: Walk 4 miles, Core, stretch, sauna
Tuesday: Walk 4 miles, 30 mins easy on the bike
Wednesday: Walk 4 miles, Rest
Thursday: Walk 4 miles, Rest
Friday: Walk 4 miles, Trail Run 4 miles
Saturday: Walk 4 miles, Heavyish Strength

A Rundown Rundown

The big news here is I hit 15,000 workout minutes for the year on Peloton. I came up just short of this milestone in 2022 so go me. For the record, I rarely use Peloton for our walks.

The other news here is our unseasonably mild weather. While we’ve had a couple of “snow events”, it all melted pretty quickly. Snow-free pavement and temps well into the 50s are very rare for Chicago in December. I will take it!

On the home front, I’m doing my best to slow down, enjoy the season, get the house decorated and ready to host Christmas Eve. This week we have Thing 2’s Holiday concert, which is my absolute fave. It’ll be her last one. Ever. Sniff.

I’m linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down. Join us!

How was your week? Is work busy for you? Happy Hanukkah!

I’m in the same boat as you–recovering from whatever yuck is going around. Here’s to both of us feeling back to normal and having a good week!

    Congrats on your Peloton milestone!

It’s sounds like the concert will be a needed break in your hectic schedule — even if getting there is one more thing to do, once you get there you can relax and soak it all in!

It was in the 50s this morning — but it will be in the 30s again tomorrow morning.

My husband had that cold that lasted for weeks! Sounds like you are on the upswing and feeling better now. Congrats on hitting your 15K! I am also working on hitting a bigger goal before the end of the year and doing the math to get there. I love the Peloton walks too!

Retail is insane this time of year — my sister really didn’t want to call out (I do understand you’re not actually in retail but marketing drives it, right?).

I hope you feel better soon. I only had one really mild illness this Fall, knock on wood, but it’s always a struggle for me this time of year so I’m just leaning into rest as much as I can because I know it’s right for me. I hope you feel much better soon!

Oh boy- the last holiday concert ever. That’s intense! My daughter’s holiday concert is also this week.
So you, Wendy, my sister and her husband (they live in your area) all had horrible colds this past week. Something is definitely going around the Chicago area! I’m glad you’re starting to feel better.

Nicely done on the 15K with Peloton! I haven’t checked any of my stats in several months (though I think they usually give a heads-up when one is approaching). Ironically, I have gotten into a routine of using the Pelo walks when I’m walking on my own, mainly for the playlist.

I’m so sorry to hear you’ve been under the weather. Here’s hoping the late week run and heavyish strength session mean you’re on the road to recovery!

I’m starting to see the usual emails and calls from potential clients wanting to set up appointments for January sessions. That kind of messes with my plan to do a slow glide into retirement through client attrition. I’ve got to learn to say no. 😉

I’m sorry you haven’t been well! That’s so hard this time of year.

I missed A’s winter concert, but I was well enough to go to the Honor Band district concert this weekend, and will be in good shape for the school jazz night on Wednesday, and seeing the jazz band play downtown in a few weeks. I’m so glad for that.

    Stay well!

Good decision to take it easy, walking is a good thing to do for recovery.I hope you begin to feel better and that work slows down.
    Enjoy the snow free weather!

Sorry that you’ve been sick – there’s definitely a lot going around! And, I so feel you on work being a lot lately – I’m just trying to get to the end of the year. Hope you’re feeling better soon!

It’s unfair to get sick EXACTLY when you it’s super busy at work. And it’s even more unfair when the super-busy time at work happens in the festive season.
You’re doing it right: heads down, work hard, get through it. There’s light at the end of the tunnel!

I love that you’re sticking to your daily walks, come what may.

Sorry to hear that you’ve been under the weather, especially during such a busy work time! Hoping for some R&R for you soon Marcia.

I’ve been run down, too – no wonder I got a cold the other week. I’ve got sluggish and spotty and put on weight, but I’m clawing things back now. A good physio visit which made me want to do my exercises again and some more bits of running happening. Hope you can make some time for quiet for yourself.

Taking it easy is the best decision. Difficult to do because we always like to give our best but you made the right decision. I learned this lesson too late!
    Enjoy the good weather.

congrats on that Peleton milestone… sorry you are sick. My hubby has pneumonia so take care of yourself.

    Healthy here… knock on work.

    Happy Holidays.
