Is It Too Hot to Run? My Summertime Runfessions

July 30, 2026 Leave a Comment

Oh July you always arrive with a bang but then slip away way too soon. I’m already seeing Halloween stuff at Target and Christmas ornaments at Costco. Come on man! Okay I’ll cool my jets on that because it’s time to open up the Runfessional for the Runfession Friday linkup.

I live in a constant state of declutter. You know this, because I say it all the time. Recently the Pain Cave was in the decluttering crosshairs, and I unearthed a couple Shape Magazines from years gone by.

I runfess it was kind of fun to peruse the graphics, the workouts and the headlines that would be oh so unPC these days. Bikini Body anyone?

The Canadian Fire Smoke that’s wafted our way recently has been no joke. Just dipping outside for a minute or two is difficult with all the toxic smells hanging in the air. I runfess it really pains me when I see area runners posting their runs in said noxious fumes on Instagram. Seriously what are you thinking?

As much as I love fall, I runfess that I am never really ready to say goodbye to summer. Even though it’s been hot, humid and this year, smoky.

I may not be ready for fall but I am heading to Chicago Bears Training Camp. I runfess the Caveman may be more excited than I, but I adore these “First Day of Training Camp” pics the team took. How cute are they?

Okay your turn: What have you to runfess? How hot is too hot to run? Would you run outside when air quality is unhealthy?

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
