I’m sitting down with Coco, Deborah, and you for the August Coffee Date. Despite the heat, I’m going with some hot coffee made from beans we got at the Deep Creek Coffee Company in Zion. Of course I’m putting some Great Lakes Wellness Collagen in there too, as I always do. Be sure to use this link for a 10% discount!
I wish I didn’t feel this way but to me, August is kind of a downer. Summer, and the glorious daylight that come with it, is slipping away, and kids are heading back to school. While I am a big fan of fall and a break in the heat, it just feels like another year is winding down and we’re heading toward the holidays at warp speed. It all goes way too fast.
August Coffee Date
Over coffee I’d tell you daughter #2 winds up her internship and heads back to school in a few short weeks. She can’t wait to get back to her friends and collegiate life. While I’m sad to see her go, I’m thrilled she is so happy in Blacksburg, and I look forward to visiting for a football game or two. There’s really nothing quite like a college campus on game day, am I right?
Over coffee I’d tell you my micro-bakery is chugging away. Mostly it’s been all kinds of crazy fun, and I do not miss my old job one bit. Sorry not sorry. My fall menu is coming out soon and I am excited! I went ahead and created a Bakery Instagram Account, so please follow along to see what’s baking.
Over coffee, I’d tell you that in July we got the in-laws moved into a senior-care facility. Cleaning out their house and getting it sold was no small task and, fingers crossed, the worst of it is behind us. No one really knows for sure though, with that kind of stuff. They are still very much in the adjustment stage and aren’t particularly loving it just yet. Hopefully that will change. My FIL turned 91 in July and taking care of my MIL on his own (and even with a caregiver) after her fall (and with her cognitive issues) is no longer feasible.
Over coffee I’d tell you I got the worst virus on my computer after visiting a dog grooming website. It was a total PIA to clean everything up and then go back in and login to every single thing. Although things are mostly better, I swear I’m still dealing with the fallout from it.
Over coffee I’d ask you if you have any travels coming up. We’ll be visiting both of our girls this fall and we’ll be spending the holidays in Europe. I’ve always wanted to experience Christmas in Europe so this is the year we’re going to check that off the bucket list.
What would you tell me over coffee? Tell me something you’re looking forward to! What’s the last thing you baked?
