I’ve had this thing with not passing other (slower) runners lately. When I saw my neighbor up ahead I [Read More]

Currently and a Winner

Books: Ha! None. Can’t even keep up with my Runner’s World mags. Running Path: I’ve been back on a route I save specifically for marathon training. Special thanks to Sunkist for sponsoring today’s post. The summer months are huge for entertaining here. I suspect this may be the case for you too. What could be better than kicking back with friends and family and enjoying some laughs and a good meal? But sometimes we need to be careful about those meals. [Read More]

My First Race

I’m linking up today with Erika, Patty, and April for Tuesdays on the Run. We’re talking about our first race. Do you remember it? I remember mine, although it’s pretty vague. I ran track in middle school and a couple miles here and there on my own in high school but once I hit college, [Read More]

#SummerShapeUp Giveaway

July 10, 2014

Balance Bars are a sentimental favorite around here. I first started eating them to fuel my runs when I began training for distances longer than 10k back in 2006. Chocolate Peanut Butter was my flavor of choice. Since then the kids really got into the cookie dough bars. Because we’re always on the go, I [Read More]

TTT: Biking, Running, Drinking. Oh My!

July 9, 2014

Bike/Run Road Safety. Believe me, I know there are plenty of crazy drivers out there. Ones that won’t slow or budge one inch over for you. I’ve had cigarettes thrown out of cars miss me by inches. I could go on. BUT. We need to be careful too. Twice in a single day, I was [Read More]

Just as I’m ramping up training for the New York City Marathon, the kind peeps at Asics sent me a new shoe to try that’s quickly become a favorite. Allow me to introduce you to the Gel-Electro 33. In a word (ok two) these shoes are light and fast. I love them for speedwork and [Read More]

Weekend Rewind: Strength Showdown Edition

July 6, 2014

I think I’ve become a hurricane magnet as well as a heat magnet because I survived my third hurricane this weekend as Arthur swept up the coast while we celebrated the Caveman’s milestone birthday in North Carolina. Possibly more impressive, I survived Hurricane MIL. No easy feat. Here are some highlights: Bench Press Showdown. Let’s [Read More]

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
