I’ve Got 99 Problems But Running Ain’t One

April 4, 2016

Ffffrozen. That’s the word that describes me right now, since we arrived home from our spring break trip to find that our furnace was done with winter but Mom Nature was not. It’s 28 degrees outside and 55 degrees in here as I type and I am thankful for my trusty Thermoball. But we’re not talking [Read More]

Are We Having Fun Yet?

April 3, 2016

I’m back from spring break. Boy how time flies. Especially when you’re having fun, and maybe even when you’re…um…not…so much. I really hate to go all Debbie Downer on you but I’m going to come right out with it and tell you our trip was not all that. Yes we have high expectations and yes, [Read More]

Matches Made in Heaven

March 28, 2016

This week on Tuesdays on the Run we’re talking all about sponsors. You know, the peeps whose product goes together with you like peanut butter on jelly. Maybe it’s a race series, a running shoe brand, a type of fuel or an accessory you love. This is your chance to put your smoke signals out [Read More]

Runfession Friday: Commando Edition

March 24, 2016

Nothing makes time fly like another installment of the Runfessions linkup! The last Friday of the month means its time to come clean and bare your sweaty soul. Let’s get started, shall we? Speaking of dirty secrets I can’t stand getting my running shoes muddy. There I said it. A couple of weeks ago I [Read More]

Chocolate-Cherry Recovery Fudge

March 23, 2016

I haven’t mentioned Operation Drop 10 lbs. (#OpDrop10) around here in a bit but that doesn’t mean I’m not still plugging away. The truth is, opinions on how to lose weight fly around the internet like a swarm of rabid gnats. Can gnats have rabies? Doubt it. Anyway you know what I mean. I’ve been [Read More]

Race Shirt Conundrum

March 21, 2016

It’s an age-old question and the topic of this week’s Tuesdays on the Run. Should one wear the race shirt TO the race? AFTER the race? For me, the answer has always been you EARN the shirt by FINISHING the race. You wear the race shirt as a badge of honor for completing the race. Similar [Read More]

Spring Has Sprung at Last

March 20, 2016

Before we get to some spring-time goodness, here’s how the week went in workouts. Brace yourself for a whole bunch of crickets: Monday: Sick Tuesday: Sick Wednesday: Sick Thursday: Better but in no shape to do anything Friday: Still better but gah! Crazy tired and stuffed up Saturday: Chest crud Sunday: 5 slow trail miles It [Read More]

Loving/Not Loving: Almost Spring Edition

March 18, 2016

Loving: The longer days and daylight in the evening. Not loving: How dark it is in the morning again. Loving: Early morning spectators. Not Loving: Early morning spectators who eat my tulips. Loving: My RunLites. Not loving: I have too many magazine subscriptions. I can’t possibly read them all and yet that doesn’t stop me. [Read More]

RunLites Review

March 17, 2016

With the time change comes morning darkness. A pain for me since I like to get my run done as soon as I drop off Thing 1 for 5:45am high school track practice. Out here in the Chi-town boonies, it’s dark. No street lamps and no sidewalks so running can be treacherous. Because of this, [Read More]

Running Sucks Sometimes

March 14, 2016

This week’s Tuesdays on the Run topic is the HARDEST part of running. Last week we shared all the rainbows and unicorns. This week? Not so much. Face it, running is hard. All you need to do is listen to someone just starting out. Someone who hears people like us going on and on about [Read More]

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
