Fall Running Favorites

September 3, 2018

Our Tuesdays on the Run Linkup is all about fall running favorites. Even though fall doesn’t technically arrive until later this month, for all intents and purposes it’s here already…even though you’d never know it by looking at the thermometer. While training through the summer for fall races has been brutal this year, fall running [Read More]

Stress Is Great For Weightloss

August 27, 2018

While the oppressive heat and humidity are still hanging around, August is rapidly slipping away. That means it’s time on the Tuesdays on the Run Linkup to grade your month. Did you accomplish everything you set out to do? For consistency’s sake, I’ll use the criteria I set for myself at the beginning of the [Read More]

Marathon Training for Time-Pressed, Stressed-Out Runners

August 26, 2018

Since all hell broke loose last Sunday, we’ve been trying to regroup and let the dust settle, in hopes of finding “normal” again. My week consisted of lots of mom taxi duty since the teenager no longer has a car, dealing with the fallout from the accident, oh and add in work, single parenting and [Read More]

Bad Things Come in Threes

August 19, 2018

It was an unsettled sort of week. The kids are officially back in school. I’ve got a high school senior (gasp) and a 7th grader. Here’s how the week in workouts went: Monday: Rest Tuesday: Run 3 miles w/plyo intervals Wednesday: Run 5 miles Thursday: Strength, lunch with Wendy Friday: Rest, wanted a bike ride [Read More]

Can Your BHAG Be Too Big, Hairy and Audacious?

August 6, 2018

This week’s Tuesdays on the Run Linkup is all about goals. Not just any goals but big ones. Really BIG ones. Those pie in the sky, dare to dream, BHAGs. That stands for Big Hairy Audacious Goal. Do you have one/some of those? Do you go big or go home? Or do you err on [Read More]

Tokyo By Way of Philly and Garden Gone Wild

August 5, 2018

Despite once again simmering in heat and humidity here in Chicago, I’m happy to say I had another solid workout week. That makes two weeks in a row, but who’s counting? Here’s how it went down. Monday: Rest My track time will be over as soon as school is back in session so I’m making [Read More]

Coffee With A Side of Collagen

August 2, 2018

It’s a new month. While I’m not wild about it being August already, I do enjoy sitting down and catching up over a cup of joe. I’m linking up with Deb and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date. I’m going with my usual: Coffee with 2T Great Lakes Gelatin Collagen Hydrolysate mixed in. I’ve been drinking my coffee this way [Read More]

Sometimes You Have to Say Eff It

July 30, 2018

It’s the last day (nooo!) of July and time for the Tuesdays on the Run Linkup. As we do at the end of every month, we’re asking you to grade your month. Did you do everything you wanted to? I had a bit of an epiphany in July. I’ve been jacking around with thyroid meds [Read More]

Canadian Air and Training….Officially

July 29, 2018

With RnRChi in the rear view mirror, Zooma Great Lakes (join me and save with MARCIA2018) just 7 weeks away and Seawheeze 8 weeks away, I think it’s time I started taking my running a tad more seriously. While most of the country has been sweltering in the heat/humidity that has been so popular this [Read More]

July Runfessions: Can We Hit Pause?

July 26, 2018

Aaaah summer. Can we just hit the pause button right here right now for about…oh say 4 weeks…and enjoy these lazy, golden warm days a little longer? Alas time waits for no one and August will make an appearance next week. You know what that means right? It means the Runfessional is open and ready [Read More]

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
