Loving/Not Loving

May 21, 2014

Not Loving that I bought a whole cargo shipload of toilet paper that was of such inferior quality (read thin, shreddy, just not up to snuff) even the family complained about it. Loving that we finally FINALLY used it up! Not Loving that I got a mystery stain on the white tank I wore to [Read More]

Chicago Spring Half Marathon

May 19, 2014

I muttered my usual “why do I do this?” when I got up at 3:40 to begin the trek into the city for this race. I tell myself no more city races, yet I keep finding myself running them. I had a special guest star today. I was picking up Wendy, the voice behind Taking [Read More]

Memorial Day Eats

May 17, 2014

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Brummel & Brown. Questionable weather aside (yes it snowed the other day) I love where I live. There are great places to get out and run and I lucked out by having great neighbors. Not just one neighbor, I hit the jackpot with an [Read More]

Friday 5

May 16, 2014

  1. Nature’s Bounty Update: Well it’s been 30 days since I started taking Nature’s Bounty Hair/Skin/Nail supplements. First let me say these gummies are quite delicious. The verdict? My hair is great. It may have grown a little faster because now it’s totally insane but that’s because I almost never get in for a [Read More]

#FuelYourBetter with Vega Sport Protein Bars

May 15, 2014

Disclosure: I received Vega Sport Protein Bars in exchange for my honest review as part of the Fuel Your Better campaign by Vega Sport and Fit Approach. All opinions are my own. You may remember the rude awakening I had last month at the Lincoln Presidential Half. Someone, who shall remain nameless, convinced me to stray from [Read More]

Tips & Tricks for Running a Race Series

May 14, 2014

So you wanna run the Goofy, Dopey, Flying Pig 3-way, 4-way or any of the other race series that are growing ever more popular? A series can be fun, challenging and exhausting at the same time. I’ve been inundated with emails since completing the Flying Pig 3-way. While it’s still fresh in my mind, I [Read More]

What’s Happening

May 12, 2014

Mother’s Day Virtual 5k. I know, I know I told you I wasn’t racing this weekend. I looked forward to a down week after traipsing around the Midwest for a race (or 3) every single weekend since April 4. Turns out a certain little piglet got bit by the racing bug at Flying Pig and [Read More]

April Wrap Up and Giveaway Winner

May 8, 2014

First let’s close out April. A week late is better than never, right? Run: 80 miles. I could’ve sworn I ran more than this. It sure felt like it. Maybe my accounting is off. Bike: 57 miles. Yay! Swims: 2. Pretty pathetic. Heavy Lifting Sessions: 2. Meh. Races: 3: Lincoln Presidential Half Eggshell Shuffle Loop [Read More]

Discovering Essential Oils and a Giveaway

May 7, 2014

I’ve dabbled with essential oils for years. Mostly spritzing lavender on pillows to soothe and encourage the sleep process for cranky babies and cavemen. I also picked up some grapefruit oil, simply because I found the scent pleasant and energizing. Recently, while I was amping up mileage for the Flying Pig 3-way, my coach suggested [Read More]

Flying Pig 3-Way Part II: Half Marathon Day

May 6, 2014

If you’re just joining us, look here for the 5k and 10k action that preceeded this half. I woke Sunday morning in the wee hours to loud voices in our hotel hallway. A prom the night before apparently partied on in the hallway. At 3am. Ugh.  I never got fully back to sleep, so at [Read More]

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
