A Fun Recipe For the Kiddos

January 26, 2010

And for the young at heart, which is all of us right? I get tons of requests for healthy(ier) meals for kids.
Mine are quite picky so that’s a big challenge for me. Some of the few things they will eat are breakfast items like pancakes, waffles, and french toast, I make those a little ‘more substantial’ with a secret ingredient. Here’s a very easy, can’t miss recipe that’s a little sneaky and a lot delish!

Protein-Packed French Toast
1/2C Milk
4 Slices Whole Wheat Bread
2 Eggs
1 Scoop Vanilla Protein Powder
1/4t cinnamon, optional

Combine eggs, milk, protein powder and cinnamon in a bowl and whisk together. Soak bread one slice at a time in the mixture and lay in buttered pan over medium heat.
Cook until golden, flip and cook the other side.
This recipe is honestly so delicious, I don’t need to do any fancy tricks, but the kids do love when I use cookie cutters to make them into fun shapes! Above I used hearts and flowers. Dinosaurs are also popular here. I serve with a drizzle of syrup for Thing 2, plain for Thing 1, some fresh fruit, and they are on they’re way with some extra protein they know nothing about! Enjoy!

That looks awesome! I want to eat it…I'll be trying it with my kiddos this weekend.

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
