20 Days and Counting!

March 30, 2010

Time flies! We’re halfway through our 40-day journey to our better selves!
We have 2 new challengers on board!

Welcome Erin and Melissa!

I am on SPRING BREAK in Florida so I’ve been a slacker in getting around to see how everyone’s doing. I do know that many of you have been:
Knocking it out of the park on corework
Rocking some great races
Toning up and dropping weight
Logging some serious training mileage

Personally I think I’m guilty of rowing this boat to success a little too hard. I pushed hard out of the injury gate in a dire attempt to get back on track and was rewarded with yet another of the kids’ sludges du jour almost immediately after recovering from the first one.

Sore throat aside, I’ve succeeded in getting a 20- and a 21-miler on the books and my speedwork is coming around. After spending 4 weeks in the pool rehabbing my achilles it’s amazing how much physical impact running has on my body that I’d never realized. I am happy to say that recovery from this last 21 miler was very quick. I am slow but I am encouraged by my progress.

Challengers please check in and share your progress. If you’d like to join us there’s still plenty of time.
Hop on, we’d love to have you!
Have a Great Week!

Do you (or any of your followers) know how to get the stink out of technical fabrics if you have a washing machine that requires you to use a high efficiency detergent?
    Help!
    I am stinky!

Well, I got the call that my dress came in today. Thank goodness the reason I missed the call was because I was on the treadmill and that I don't have to try it on for another month and a half. It's coming along…I'm really just trying to focus.
    Enjoy Florida!

Don't we all push too hard at times?! I think runners are particularly guilty of that. It's the nature of the beast. But it's kind of fun to find out exactly how far we can push ourselves until we break.

Wow..enjoy your time in Florida! My corework, unfortunately, has not been consistent since I increased my mileage, but that is okay. I will keep working on it!

It can be so hard to stop yourself from doing something that you truly enjoy. Pool time is great for getting things back into place. Enjoy Florida.

Last summer I got in an 18 miler in the Florida heat on vacation. Great job keeping up while on break. Those runs make the difference and give you that hard edge on race day.

Excellent news on the recovery. On the flip side, sadly I have been remiss on the challenge. I should be banned altogether for my poor showing.

I am very glad to see your doing well. I wish you the best in your training and all. Looks as if you are having a great time though. As far as physical impact, as my base building continues I can feel some difference but not much, just goes away in a few hours after. is this normal? Take care.

You are doing GREAT! Way to bounce back strong, but I hope you can keep the sickness at bay.

Doing well here… I feel fantastic. Pounds are coming off (slowly) and miles are getting FASTER!

Halfway there and still not another trail 50k! Ugh. Life gets in the way but I am still keeping my training up and looking for one close enough to fit in the opportunity window! 20 days to make it happen!

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
