I’m back from an amazing couple of weeks in Europe and now, lo and behold, July is rapidly coming to an end. Before August gets here, let’s open up the Runfessional for some post-vacation recovery runfessions.
Post-Vacation Recovery Runfessions
The airline attendant at baggage check who weighed our bags before the return flight to Chicago commented on how my bag was the lightest in our group and MUCH lighter than most travelers who’ve been on holiday for a couple of weeks. I runfess this made me feel like SUCH an accomplished, well-seasoned traveler. While my packing game was not perfect, I have to admit, it was mostly on point and I used everything I brought.
I runfess I was so smitten by the cows in the Swiss Alps that I may have purchased a cowbell…or two…for our doggies! Haha!
I runfess that our longboat had no gym of any kind. Of course I still could have brought resistance bands and done body weight exercises, alas I runfess I did not. In my defense though, we were consistently hitting 20k daily steps and climbing an average of 17 flights of stairs. All that said, I’m sure my food and drink intake exceeded that.
When we were in Cologne, Germany, I came upon a souvenir shop that had an outdoor display of what? Old race medals. I runfess I had to do a double-take before I realized what they were. They were from lesser known European races circa 2018 or so. I runfess I wish I’d taken a picture of them. I did notice they were selling in the range of 25 Euros each. I wonder if anyone buys them??
Ok your turn: What have you to runfess? What kinds of crazy things do you drag home from vacation? Do you pack heavy? Light? Just right?
Wow, race medals for sale? I have to wonder who would want them, LOL. You trip looked fabulous, it was probably tough to come back to reality 🙂
Elite-level traveller status! There’s no better feeling than using everything you packed!
Speaking of which, you got a very nice compliment on my blog about your outfit. One of the readers commented this: “Marcia’s pink pants are also the PERFECT pastel colour for bottoms. Cannot stress enough how much I love them! (Don’t think I could ever pull them off myself, but on her they’re perfection.)”
So not only did you travel light, you also packed the right things!! 😃🙌
Bravo on the perfect packing – I runfess that despite my best efforts I often overpack.
How funny about the old race medals – now I’m really curious as to who buys them.
Your trip looked fabulous! How amazing to check off one of your bucket list items! It may come as no surprise to you that despite that fact we travel quite a bit, I often overpack. I really like to have options for weather changes and just how I feel that day. My husband definitely gives me the eye roll when he sees what I pack!
I loved following your trip on IG.
I pack a lot but if you run or race, you need more stuff.
That is interesting… old race medals for sale…
Your trip looked amazing! And I love cows too!
I’m an average packer. I like to workout on vacation, so there’s all that stuff. And then I also got very hot and like to change for dinner. I do try to pack things like dresses so it’s just one item vs top/bottom. And also… I wear a size 9.5/10 shoe. Even if I bring one pair of running shoes and one pair of casual shoes, that takes up a lot of room.
Race medals!? I wish you’d have taken a photo so we could crack the code on that one! LOL!
20K steps is perfect exercise and the food in Europe is so much fresher and better for you!
