We are back from a wonderful couple of weeks in Europe. I’ve got way too many photos to dump on you, so I’ll sprinkle in a few of them gradually. Or if you absolutely cannot wait, find my Instagram coverage of Switzerland here, here and here. I’ll share pics from Germany, France and The Netherlands soon.
So here’s how my post-vacation reentry week went:
Monday: Travel home day
Tuesday: Walk 4 miles, Strength Training
Wednesday: Back to work, 2 mile walk, 30 mins. Bike hills and sprints, corework
Thursday: Walk 4 miles + light Strength + Stretch (tired/lethargic today)
Friday: Walk 4 miles, Strength Training + Corework
Saturday: Walk 4 miles, otherwise rest
Wednesday’s bike workout felt good. While we’d been walking an average of 8 miles a day, climbing on average 20 flights of stairs daily, and went on a couple of bicycle adventures, let the record show I did not do one single “official” workout, and believe it or not, I’m good with that.
It was time to shake off the jet lag and get moving. For the most part I felt good…until I didn’t. By Thursday I just felt lethargic so I listened to my body and opted for more stretching and lighter weights.
I eased back into my daily push-up routine too, so it’s all good.
Enough of that, now here are a few pics from our trip:
I feel so blessed to get the opportunity to meet Catrina for coffee on our last day in Zurich. We had an absolutely wonderful visit!
In Switzerland, we toured Zurich, Basel, the Interlaken area, and the Jungfrau region, including Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald. Stunningly beautiful doesn’t begin to describe it.
I’ll leave you for now, with a pic of Zurich at night.
Runfession Friday Linkup!

Join me right here this Friday!
How was your week? Do you get in your workouts while on vacation? Do you struggle with jet lag?
I’m linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down. Join us!
Hi Marcia! 👋🏻👋🏻😃 It was so lovely to see you in Zurich – I could’ve chatted with you for hours! It was such a treat to finally meet in person. You definitely got to experience some of Switzerland’s best spots, and your photos captured it all beautifully.
I’m so glad the Rhine tour was a success too!
Wishing you an easy and gentle re-entry into the “normal” routine – and yes, fully agree: taking it slow for a bit is totally legit!
I followed your journey via IG, and it looked amazing–this is a trip I’ve dreamed of doing. For now, I’m living vicariously through you. Getting to meet Catrina is the icing on the cake, really. Savor all your memories–this was a trip of a lifetime!
Looks like you had an amazing trip — and much nicer weather in Zurich than we did! Love all the photos!
That sounds like an amazing trip! And you met Catrina!!! How fun. To answer your question, I do try to run while on vacation, and I’ll do some strength work if it’s feasible- but I don’t make myself crazy over it. In the overall scheme of things, it’s more important to fully enjoy the experience of traveling. You can always get back into a regular routine when you’re home.
It’s time for Runfessions already??? What happened to July?
Your trip looked fabulous and the weather too! The big family trips are the best! Re-entry is tough 🙂
I loved following your vacation pictures. What a wonderful trip.. Isn’t Catrina sweet?
I haven’t been a broad in years… but I do remember how hard it is to recover with jet lag.
My week was busy as usual…
I have really enjoyed seeing your travels on Facebook. And, I’m finding out that we have several common Facebook friends (I think all Boston runners?). Looks like an amazing trip! Always nice to be home and back to routine, but hard to end a wonderful journey like that!!
What a fabulous trip! It’s been fun seeing some of the highlights, via social media 😉 I’m SO envious of your get together with Catrina!
It sounds like you had a fabulous trip, and how lovely to have coffee with Catrina!
oh my goodness, your vacation photos are absolutely gorgeous! What a wonderufl expereince! Good luck with the “re-entry” – coming back after vacation can be so hard!
Love seeing all of your pics on IG – it looks like you had a fabulous trip! I can certainly imagine that re-entry was tough — good on you for diving back in but also giving yourself grace when needed.
I’ve been following your adventures on Facebook, and it looks like you had the most wonderful time. I visited Lucerne decades ago, and it was truly one of the most beautiful places I’ve even seen. I hope you had the best time! You know that I do exercise while on vacation. I think running and walking is a great way to see all the sights in whatever city I’m visiting.
