Thanksgiving Leftovers and Runfessions

November 27, 2025

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with family, friends, and of course plenty of good food. After we relax and count our many blessings, it’s time once again to open the runfessional. Because time waits for no one and, like it or not, December is right around the corner.

Thanksgiving Leftovers and Runfessions

It was a double Thanksgiving kind of year here. While it was technically the in-laws’ turn to host Thanksgiving, I runfess I had an additional gathering for my extended family the weekend before. With so many nieces and nephews in from college, I felt it was necessary to gather while everyone was home and gather we did.

It’s been so much fun to have our kids home with us this week. With a nasty winter storm looming in the forecast this weekend, it looks like it may be a struggle for them to fly out. I runfess the thought of them having to stay longer makes me smile.

I runfess the leftovers in the title of this post are the only Thanksgiving leftovers I’ll see this year. A certain brother, who shall remain nameless, finds it impossible to respond when he is invited somewhere. I typically take his non-responses as a no, and he doesn’t join us. This year however, he arrived with teenaged sons in tow and lets just say the Thanksgiving table was pretty much wiped out. C’est la vie.

And finally, I runfess that my workouts have been inconsistent at best lately. With all the airport runs, get-togethers, and time with family and friends, life gets in the way and I’m not upset about it. Gym-time will be there when the dust settles.

Okay your turn. What have you to runfess? How do you deal with people who do not respond?

I think Thanksgiving leftovers are my favorite, but I don’t have as many this year as well. I may only get one serving of turkey & gravy (smothered over bread), and that’s okay. I can only imagine how great it was for you to have so many family members all gathered together, especially your daughters!

Double Thanksgiving sounds exhausting but worth it! “Heaps of peeps” always brings good chaos.

Your brother showing up last-minute with hungry teenagers is hilarious! Leftovers never stood a chance, but at least there’s zero food waste!

How fun to have everyone together, extra work aside. I runfess that I love that my brother hosts Thanksgiving so I don’t have to…the only downside is no leftovers.

I hope your daughters travel isn’t too chaotic.

I didn’t host but there was too much food (take out) and everyone got some leftovers…

Family time important… those workouts will come…

    Happy Thanksgiving.

I definitely would assume no RSVP means not coming. We have enough leftovers to get us through the weekend at least!

If storms interfere, I hope flights are cancelled before they head to the airport. Do they use O’Hare? That’s not fun to get to.

It’s kind of nice not to have too many leftovers!

My Turkey Trot was sold out this year so I enjoyed a chilly 10 mile run and spotted a Snowy Owl! I’m gearing up for some chilly runs and I’m not mad!

Booo. We cooked extra this year to ensure all the leftovers. I would be annoyed, but I always try to make a ton of food just in case. I normally don’t like leftovers at all but Thanksgiving is different.

I don’t like Thanksgiving food but I would not have been sad to have extra corn casserole coming home.
Enjoy your time with kids and other family
