Is That You Spring? It’s Me Marcia

March 26, 2026 4 Comments

Yes, spring is indeed finally, officially here. I feel like it’s been forever since the groundhog proclaimed spring would be early this year. Yeah right. Well spring it is and guess what? It’s also time to open up the Runfessional. Because April is right around the corner.

Is That You Spring? It’s Me Marcia

I’m not a fan of how my phone “listens” to me or social media tracks what I look at and then sends me “relevant” accounts to consider. When Instagram showed me Misty Copeland’s hip replacement post, I runfess I felt like she and I had become kindred spirits. She retired from her role as Principal Ballerina with American Ballet Theater late last year and had a hip replacement soon after. While her surgery was about 6 weeks before mine, it’s been nice to watch her progress.

I don’t typically care about the Oscars and this year was no different. I did plan on glancing at the red carpet coverage to see who’s wearing what, but both of my kids called that evening so, while said coverage was on, I runfess I paid little to no attention. I was paying attention, however, much later in the broadcast, when none other than Misty Copeland (see runfession above) appeared in a musical number for Sinners. She did a brief dance and I runfess I couldn’t have been more delighted. People were exclaiming how amazing it was that she could dance so soon after hip surgery. Being about 6 weeks behind her in recovery, I runfess I can totally understand that she indeed can!

As I type, I am approaching 8 weeks post-op. Everything continues to go amazingly well, however I do have one runfession. I’ve been very consistent with my workouts, however I runfess I’ve been SO distracted by the TV in the pain cave. I’ve been known to pause my workout and just stand there, idly watching. It’s gotten to the point where I decided I can’t turn the TV on at all. What gives?

Okay your turn: What have you to runfess? Did you watch the Oscars? Did you see any of the nominated movies? Do you have any fitness-related bad habits?

Oh I am so convinced that our phones listen to everything and sometimes it’s shockingly weird! I completely boycotted watching the Oscar’s as I’m pretty fed up with the politics being shared by people who know nothing. They can stick to acting. Anyway, so glad your recovery is going so well! Enjoy your spring

It’s great to hear how well your hip is doing, and seeing Misty Copeland dance must have been quite inspirational. I haven’t watched the Oscar’s in years. I have zero interest in that kind of stuff – Oscar’s, Emmy’s, Grammy’s etc. Also, I’ve rarely ever seen any of the movies they award because we really don’t watch movies. With that being said, my husband just finished reading Project Hail Mary and wants to go see it, so I’m reading it now so we can go next week.

That’s such great news on your recovering hip…eight weeks already! I have not watched any awards shows since forever. I can usually catch the red carpet attire the day after, LOL. Best wishes for continued success with your bionic hip 😉
