Virtual Race Festivities

December 27, 2011

On Christmas Eve, I ran not one, but two virtual races: and the Home for the Holidays 10k. It was good to be back home in the tundra after sweating my coconuts off in Key West… …ok sort of…not really. I wore some of my favorite things, doing my best to channel the Sugar Plum [Read More]

In order to not bore you silly, I’m thinking vacation details and virtual races will be covered in another post. Let’s get to the pressing stuff: Secret Santa! Thanks to the blogger gift exchange, so graciously hostessed by [Read More]

December 16, 2011

It’s been a trying couple of days.Last night:Thing 1: “Mom the lights on the tree outside are sparking.” Screams. “Now they’re on fire!”This morning:I got an email telling me Thing 2 spent $100 on iTunes for Bakery Doodle coins. December 15, 2011

I never quite got this post up yesterday. It was one of those insane days–you know the kind. I have so much to tell you about Notorious and the angry ham but I won’t bore you with that….yet. Stress Less: The Homestretch I vowed this year would be different. For once, I wouldn’t be the [Read More]

But now? Well it beats the alternative I guess. Thing 2: “Mom who do you want on your birthday cake: [Read More]

Tale of an Angry Ham: Injury Update

December 8, 2011

Google Images Finally seeing Dr. Miracle yesterday was like coming home as I hadn’t been in since the achilles fiasco pre-Boston 2010.I resisted the urge to collapse into his waiting arms sobbing as I shared details of the utter shambles this entire racing year has been. Honestly I had other things on my mind, namely [Read More]

What I Ate/Weigh-In Wednesday

December 7, 2011

No earth shattering weight loss to report but things are moving slowly, in the right direction.  Pre-run breakfast: The good ole banana with almond butter, with 1/2 a cup of coffee and lots of water. Apres run: Protein Recovery Shake: coconut milk, frozen mixed berries, Collagen Sport Protein Powder, spinach, splash of orange juice. Afternoon [Read More]

Injured Reserve Redux

December 6, 2011

Last week was a cutback week and oh yes, I cut back alright. Here’s how it went:Monday: A slow, 6-mile recovery run after last weekend’s 5k (where I reinjured the ornery hammy/glute)  and half marathon (where the injured h&g hurt like hell but, in my infinite wisdom, I pushed through anyway.) Wednesday: At it again, this time I [Read More]

Google Images 2011 is fading fast, you’re in the midst of holiday parties, getting decorations up, shopping and all things festive and frantic. marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
