How Big is Your Swag?

February 14, 2014

Yesterday alone I got 3 emails from directors: One previewing the medal for a May race, complete with dimensions. Call me old fashioned but I kind of like it when the medal is a secret until I cross the finish line. The other two dangled the copious contents of their goodie bags as an incentive [Read More]

Week 1 of Lorna Jane’s Move Nourish Believe Challenge is complete! Our focus this week was Move. Here’s my week in pictures: Day 1: Favorite way to sweat. You know I have to say running. Even if it’s super snowy, icy and cold. As long as I avoid frostbite and don’t break a hip, I’m [Read More]

Modeling Positivity

February 7, 2014

It’s been a loooong, dark, polar vortexular winter and it’s not even close to over. This week I feel like I’m plowing through each day just to inch closer to spring. One of my kiddos lately has been oozing gloom and doom, to the point that I fear it’s becoming her trademark. It’s a tough winter [Read More]

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not all bad, I don’t hate it. I just wanted it shorter, because my hair grows [Read More]

5 Ways To Be A Better Yogi

February 4, 2014

I made it to a yoga class for the first time this year. I intentionally stayed away until now, letting the resolution crowds thin a bit. Alas the class was full. Busting at the seams, actually. Several straggled in late and we all sardined in even more. I was accommodating, until the last straw, that [Read More]

Virtual Racing #WinterMiles and #5bythe5th

February 3, 2014

Not one but two virtual races happened here last week. I ran Run with Jess’ #WinterMiles Snowball Shuffle Virtual 8k on the mill. Ironically there were no snowballs in my running laboratory, I mean basement, and I did not shuffle either. To make sure I picked up the pace, I made my gut-busting 400m repeats [Read More]

Women, Running and Rest

February 2, 2014

Why Are Strategic Rest and Recovery So Important? Why Do Women Require More Rest and Recovery Time Than Men? Training is a continuous cycle of stress and recovery, stress and recovery.  During training, you sustain micro-tears in your leg muscles.  When training is managed properly, the body repairs itself and gets stronger during recovery. [Read More]

marciashealthyslice I'm a working mom who, as part of a mid-life challenge, decided to run a marathon for kicks. I didn't plan on it becoming a hobby, but it did. I qualified for Boston at my second marathon and finished the 6 World Marathon Majors in London in 2019. Set no small goals. You never know what you're capable of until you try!
